Why was Jáchymov the most important mining town in Europe, what did the town's buildings look like and what has survived to the present day? Why did the mining town become the cradle of radon and radon baths? And what does Madame Curie Sklodowska have to do with it?

We invite you to a guided walk that we have prepared in Jáchymov. The town will be guided by historians Lubomír Zeman and Karel Kůt. The route will lead from the heart of Jáchymov, from the Church of St. Jáchym to the spa park and will focus on the important periods of Jáchymov's history. During the walk we will look into places that are not normally open to the public, we will see the interiors of the most important patrician houses, we will look at the oldest spa house and we will end in the spa park at the Aquacentre Agricola, where it will be possible to visit the spa museum.

Participants and attendees will learn:

  • what the town of Jáchymov looked like in the past
  • how the mining town developed in relation to natural healing resources
  • how radon water is captured and used
  • how Marie Curie Sklodowska is related to the town of Jáchymov
