About the Institute of Spa and Balneology
The Institute of Spa and Balneology is a public research institution established in 2019 by the Karlovy Vary Region. The aim of the institution is to renew research in the field of spa and balneology in the Czech Republic.
The main activities of ILaB are:
Research and development in the fields of spa, balneology, geology, hydrogeology, balneomedicine, balneotechnics, balneoclimatology, preventive medicine, healthy lifestyle, social science and economics and related interdisciplinary
cooperation.
Dissemination and promotion of research results by publishing professional publications, monographs, journals and proceedings, active participation in conferences and congresses, organization of professional events including international, educational and training activities.
Cooperation with research institutions, professional workplaces, universities and other organisations and companies in the field of research and development.
Preparation of expert studies of a research nature and provision of infrastructure for research.
Other and other activities of the ILaB include
- Consultancy, expertise and information activities in the field of balneology, spa, hydrogeology, natural medicinal resources, social science and related fields.
- Educational and training activities in the field of balneology, spa, hydrogeology, natural medicinal resources and related fields.
- Supporting activities to integrate balneology and spa science into the education system and coordinating activities to establish a university or a branch of a university with a focus on spa science and balneology.
- Publication activity in the field of balneology, spa, hydrogeology, natural medicinal resources, social science and related fields.
- Certification of spa facilities including European certification.
- Consultancy, expertise and information activities in the field of balneology, spa, hydrogeology, natural medicinal resources, social science and related fields.
- Educational and training activities in the field of balneology, spa, hydrogeology, natural medicinal resources and related fields.
We are an important member of international organisations
ILaB is a member of important international groups in the field of spa and balneology such as ESPA (European Spas Association) and FEMTEC (World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy). We also actively cooperate with the Bavarian Spa Association.
