Joint Research Centre for Telemedicine Technologies in Spa Industry

The aim of the project is cooperation between research organisations and the application sphere with emphasis on specific joint research projects, future applicability of results and building long-term partnerships.

Why?

The unfavourable development of the spa industry in the Czech Republic, when for more than 30 years there was no scientific research base, led to the stagnation of the Czech spa industry within the Ministry of Health. However, the effective transfer of R&D results from the research sphere to the application area and their subsequent use is of key importance for the development of spa and balneology. New opportunities in the field of spa and balneology are opened by the introduction of new treatment methods in combination with the possibilities of telemedicine, which allows not only the possibility of remote treatment, but above all the adaptation of therapy based on monitoring various health indicators of the patient and evaluation of individual progress.

What?

The aim of the project is cooperation between research organisations and the application sphere with emphasis on specific joint research projects, future applicability of results and building long-term partnerships. The stated goal will be achieved through the development of a joint scientific research facility in the field of telemedicine technologies in the spa industry, which will enable the implementation of complex interdisciplinary research studies with high application potential.

How?

Within the project, specific joint research projects will be implemented - based on clinical testing of selected telemedicine technologies, new treatment programmes for spa facilities will be designed and developed based on the implementation of the latest technologies and processes in the field of telemedicine.

What does this mean for the application sphere?

The project will enable to adapt the research agenda of the Institute of Spa and Balneology directly to the needs of the Karlovy Vary agglomeration. The exchange of knowledge within the region contributes to the creation of a common regional knowledge base, which can be a source of unique advantages for local companies. The development of a joint research facility will increase the attractiveness of the agglomeration for workers in high value-added (R&D) fields and lead to the creation of green jobs.

Current progress

The project is being prepared for submission to the OP JAK.
