On January 16, we were delighted to welcome a delegation from the Japanese city of Beppu to our institute. The city is located in an active volcanic region and boasts the world’s second-largest volume of thermal water output. As a result, it is a major center of Japanese onsen (thermal) culture.

Today, the local spa focuses primarily on short-term treatments lasting 1–2 days. In the future, however, it plans to expand its offerings to include comprehensive spa care. It was precisely in search of this inspiration that they visited major European spa towns as well as our Institute.

We were pleased to present our activities to the delegation led by the mayor, share practical experiences from the Czech spa industry, and discuss opportunities for cooperation in the areas of professional care, research, and innovation. Beppu is also considering establishing its own research institute focused on the spa industry.

International cooperation is key to the development of modern spa care. We thank the delegation for their visit.
