On 23-26 May 2025, we attended the International Longevity Show in Istanbul, where we presented the spa industry in Karlovy Vary and the research activities of our institute. MUDr. Ladislav Špišák, CSc. "Atatürk's Well-being Adventure in Karlovy Vary in 1918".

The presentation focused on the historical and contemporary significance of Karlovy Vary as a spa town - including a reminder of the stay of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk - and the Institute's current research projects. We presented, for example, the evaluation of the effects of the Carlsbad drinking cure, the use of virtual reality in rehabilitation, and new biomarkers for the evaluation of spa treatment in patients with diabetes.

The presentation attracted considerable interest and in the discussions that followed, participants from medical staff, rehabilitation professionals, medical equipment manufacturers and academia from the United States, Europe and Asia expressed great interest in spa research in our region.
