On August 21, 2025, we attended a conference for patients with idiopathic bowel disease (IBD) organized by the IBD Patients Association in Karlovy Vary at the Kriváň Hotel.

MUDr. Ladislav Špišák, CSc., Chairman of the Council, spoke on our behalf and presented his experience with spa treatment of patients with Crohn's disease. He focused on the importance of drinking cures and the effect of minerals on the gastrointestinal system. The presentation also included two case reports with specific laboratory and anamnestic data that documented positive results of spa treatment. He concluded the presentation by summarizing his experience in treating gastroenterology patients in a spa setting, particularly in Karlovy Vary.

The IBD Patients Association brings together people with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, provides them with support and strives to improve their quality of life. It organises educational seminars and conferences, publishes patient materials and implements projects that help patients in their daily lives (e.g. the IBD Under Control mobile app or the WC card). It is also a member of the European Federation of Patient Organisations EFCCA. Conferences such as the one in Karlovy Vary are one way of bringing up-to-date information on treatment and support options.
