On Wednesday, 22 November 2024, the Balneoforum 2024 expert conference took place at the Chopin House in Mariánské Lázně, focusing on the medical, scientific and socio-economic aspects of the spa industry. The event was held under the auspices of the Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region Mgr. Jana Mračková Vildumetzová and the Mayor of Mariánské Lázně Martin Hurajčík.

Participants learned about current research and trends in spa care, such as the use of biomarkers in prevention, the importance of physical activity in climatic spas or the development of radon mineral waters. Issues of sustainable development of the spa industry and its contribution to the regional economy were also discussed.

The programme included expert lectures and a panel discussion, which created a space for exchanging views, sharing experiences and establishing new collaborations. The event, accredited by the Czech Medical Chamber, highlighted the importance of the spa industry not only as a traditional sector but also as a key component of modern healthcare.
