On March 20-21, 2025, we participated in the conference Trauma and Rehabilitation WINTER Forum 2025, which was organized by KKN, a.s., the State Therapeutic Spa Janské Lázně, s.p., the Institute of Clinical Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Olomouc, the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology of the Charles University and the University Hospital Hradec Králové.

The Institute of Spa and Balneology was represented by Mgr. Magdaléna Vereskova, MSc. and Mgr. Alexandra Zachová Tichá, MBA, who presented not only our institute and the project Centre for Spa Research (CLV), but also the expert lecture "The use of virtual reality technology in complex spa and rehabilitation care.

The presentation included:

  • Virtual reality as an innovative technology in physiotherapy, its use in practice, appropriate diagnoses, examples of exercises and diagnostics, the main mechanisms of action of VR on the patient and benefits for medical staff.

  • Possibilities of using VR in the spa industry and objective evaluation of its suitability and effectiveness in complex spa care based on the results of a pilot study conducted in cooperation with VR Medical.

The audience showed great interest in the topic, taking photographs and asking several questions during the discussion.

The programme of the conference was focused mainly on traumatology of the upper limb in children, but there were also lectures from the field of physiotherapy. Very interesting was, for example, the presentation of MUDr. Olšák on the therapy of spinal cord lesions with AC-TIVE ENF and Unilexa methods, which brought an inspiring view of innovative approaches in rehabilitation. Our contribution fit exactly into the professional program of the conference.

We are pleased that we were able to share our experience and contribute to the professional discussion on the possibilities of using modern technologies in rehabilitation and spa care.
