March 4 marks World Obesity Day. Obesity is currently one of the major health problems facing modern society. Spa treatments can also play a significant role in the treatment of obesity. For children and adolescents, it is even included in the list of indications.
Access to spa care for obese clients in the Czech Republic varies significantly depending on the patient’s age. For children and adolescents, comprehensive spa care is covered by health insurance companies if obesity is associated with other risk factors.
The situation is different for adult patients. Adult clients can take advantage of specialized weight-loss stays for self-paying patients, or they may have their spa treatment covered under other diagnoses that often accompany obesity, such as diabetes or musculoskeletal disorders.
However, the goal of modern spa treatment is not merely short-term weight loss. It is primarily about providing a safe starting point for long-term sustainable health through proper education, balanced nutrition, and guided exercise.
