Reference measurements: the first step towards defining and protecting the therapeutic spa landscape

This week, colleagues from the Environmental Section went into the field to carry out reference measurements as part of the Spa Research Centre project.
They focused on the various environmental elements that influence the quality of the therapeutic spa landscape. Specifically, noise levels, air ion concentrations, radiation levels, light intensity and other factors were measured. The aim of the measurements is to obtain the most accurate baseline data for further professional work.
The results are used to refine the parameters specified in the methodology for the definition and protection of therapeutic spa landscapes. This will be one of the key outputs of the Environmental Sciences team within the Spa Research Centre project. One of the objectives of this project is to comprehensively address the issue of therapeutic spa landscapes - in line with the guiding principles of the European Landscape Convention.
We are looking forward to the next phases of the methodology development and the follow-up activities that will follow in the project.
