Every year in the autumn months, the European Spa Association ESPA organises the European Congress of Spa Cities in Europe. This year, the largest and best-known event in the field of spa and spa tourism will take place from 4 to 6 October 2023 in Karlovy Vary, the "capital of the Czech spa industry", under the leadership of the Karlovy Vary Region together with the European Spa Association. Two key events will take place: the European Spas & Balneology Congress, with the ESPA Innovation Award ceremony, and the SPA-CE B2B Workshop, a spa and wellness tourism trade fair that will bring together representatives of European spa facilities with representatives of travel agencies and tour operators. One of the sections of the congress is a meeting of mayors of spa towns in Europe.

The subtitle of the congress is "European spas - the way to a healthy life".

The main themes of the congress will cover the challenges faced by the tourism industry, especially in the spa sector after the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the ESPA 2023 congress will address sustainability in the spa sector , innovation and education in balneotherapy.

In light of the recent pandemic, maintaining active health is an important issue. At the same time, the importance of natural healing spas, which help to maintain good health by providing preventive treatment and rehabilitation programmes, has become apparent.

Employees of the public research institution Institute of Spa and Balneology under the leadership of MUDr. Ladislav Špišák, CSc. prepared a rich programme of the expert balneology section together with European experts in the spa industry.

We look forward to meeting you.
