On May 24, we organized a professional seminar focused on the historical development of Kynžvart Spa and current possibilities of spa treatment . The meeting was part of the activities of the Center for Spa Research (CLV) project and brought together interdisciplinary perspectives on balneology and regional tradition.
In the first part of the program, colleagues Mgr. Karel Kůt and Mgr. Lubomír Zeman spoke about the beginnings of spa tourism in Kynžvart. They recalled the role of Klemens Václav Metternich and his son Richard in the development of local spas, the construction of the iconic spa building in 1885, and the importance of spa tourism for the cultural identity of the city.
The second part of the seminar was devoted to the current use of natural healing resources, especially in the area of care for pediatric patients. MUDr. Dana Šašková from the Kynžvart Spa presented approaches to indications, results of spa rehabilitation, and specifics of treating children.
Participants appreciated the connection of historical context with current topics and actively participated in the discussions. The seminar confirmed the interest in further educational events and contributed to the fulfillment of the goals of the CLV project in the area of popularization of research and development of professional education in balneology.
