Privacy policy

With effect from 25 May 2018, the processing of personal data is governed by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data (GDPR).

1. Data controller

Institute of Spa and Balneology (Institut lázeňství a balneologie, v. v. i.), a public research institution under Act No. 341/2005 Coll., on public research institutions, established by the Karlovy Vary Region and registered in the register of public research institutions.

2. What data we process

We process personal data you provide to us, for example when registering for an event, through the contact form, by subscribing to our newsletter, or in the course of professional cooperation. This typically includes: name, surname and academic title; e-mail and phone number; organisation and position; the content of your enquiry or communication; and, where relevant, other data related to the event or cooperation in question.

Forms may be operated through Microsoft Forms. We use Ecomail to send our newsletters; its provider ensures the security of personal data processing in accordance with applicable law.

3. Purposes and legal basis of processing

We process personal data for the purposes of: fulfilling legal obligations; the institute’s scientific and research activities; organising and evaluating events; communicating with experts, partners and the public; performing contractual relationships; and informing you about the institute’s activities, including sending the newsletter where you have given consent.

The legal basis is: compliance with a legal obligation; the institute’s legitimate interest (in particular scientific activity and internal management); performance of a contract; and the data subject’s consent.

4. Recipients of personal data

Recipients may include: public institutions in the context of fulfilling legal obligations; project partners and cooperating organisations in science and research; contractual partners; providers of IT and marketing services (e.g. Ecomail); and the public, where the data subject has consented (e.g. participants in public events).

5. Data retention period

We retain personal data for the time necessary to fulfil the purposes stated above, and no longer than the periods laid down by law.

6. Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies. Essential cookies enable the basic functioning of the site; analytics cookies (Google Analytics, deployed via Google Tag Manager) help us understand how the site is used and are only set with your consent.

7. Your rights

You have the right to: access your personal data; have your data rectified or erased; restrict processing; data portability; object to processing; and lodge a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection (www.uoou.cz).
