1st Annual Conference on Modern Technologies in the Spa Sector

On 24 April 2023, Karlovy Vary hosted the first annual conference on Modern Technologies in the Spa Sector. The professional event was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, based in Kladno, and under the auspices of the Mayor of Karlovy Vary, Ing. Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová, MBA.

The conference attracted numerous experts, researchers, representatives of spa facilities and university students. The event focused on presenting the latest trends and innovations in the field of spa medicine and balneology, such as virtual reality, digitalization, telemedicine and modern health applications.

In her opening address, the Mayor of Karlovy Vary, Ing. Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová, MBA, emphasized the importance of connecting traditional spa medicine with modern technologies. It is essential for the spa sector to develop and adapt to current needs, which includes, among other things, the introduction of the latest technologies and research findings into spa practice.

Through expert lectures and company presentations, conference participants learned about new research and development results in the field of modern technologies and their applications in spa medicine and balneology, which have the potential to improve the quality of care and the efficiency of spa services. Participants had the opportunity to make new contacts, exchange experience and discuss current challenges and opportunities. The discussions focused on case studies and practical applications of new technologies in spa medicine and balneology, including the use of laser therapy in treating patients with post-COVID syndrome and the possibilities of telerehabilitation technology for the therapy of stability and cognitive functions.

The organizers offered students of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University the opportunity to present their research projects and bachelor's theses. This gave them their first chance to speak at a scientific conference and receive feedback from experienced professionals.

The success of the "Modern Technologies in the Spa Sector" conference reflects growing interest in innovation and research in the field of spa medicine and balneology. This trend helps to strengthen and consolidate the role of the Czech Republic, and particularly of the Karlovy Vary Region, as a center of excellence in this field.
