We were delighted to welcome a delegation from the Japanese city of Beppu

On January 16, we were delighted to welcome a delegation from the Japanese city of Beppu at our institute. The city is located in an active volcanic region and has the second-largest volume of thermal water springs in the world. This makes it a significant center of Japanese onsen (thermal) culture.
The local spas currently focus mainly on short-term treatments lasting 1–2 days. However, they plan to expand their offerings to include comprehensive spa care in the future. It was precisely for this inspiration that they set out to visit prominent European spa towns, as well as our Institute.
We were pleased to present our activities to the delegation, led by the mayor, share practical experience from Czech spa medicine, and discuss possibilities for cooperation in the fields of professional care, research, and innovation. Beppu is in fact also considering establishing its own research institute focused on spa medicine.
International cooperation is key to the development of modern spa care. We thank the delegation for their visit.
