European Spas & Balneology Congress

Every year in the autumn months, the European Spas Association (ESPA) organizes the European Spa Congress in spa towns across Europe. This year, this largest and most renowned event in the field of spa medicine and spa tourism will take place from 4 to 6 October 2023 in the "capital of Czech spa medicine," Karlovy Vary, under the leadership of the Karlovy Vary Region together with the European Spas Association. Two key events will take place: the European Spas & Balneology Congress, combined with the presentation of the ESPA Innovation Award, and the SPA-CE B2B Workshop, a spa and wellness tourism trade fair that will enable representatives of European spa facilities to meet with representatives of travel agencies and tour operators. One of the congress sections will also feature a meeting of mayors of Europe's spa towns.

The congress subtitle is "European Spas – A Path to a Healthy Life."

The main topics of the congress will address the challenges facing tourism, particularly in the spa sector, following the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the ESPA 2023 Congress will address sustainability in the spa sector, innovation, and education in balneotherapy.

In light of the recent pandemic, maintaining active health plays a significant role. At the same time, the importance of natural therapeutic spas has become evident, as they help maintain good health by providing preventive treatment and rehabilitation programs.

Staff of the public research institution Institute of Spa and Balneology, under the leadership of MUDr. Ladislav Špišák, CSc., have prepared, together with European experts in spa medicine, a rich program for the professional balneology section.
