Conference Modern Technologies in Spa Medicine 3.0: international participation, awards and new impulses for research and practice

On Tuesday, 15 April 2025, we held the third edition of the professional conference Modern Technologies in Spa Medicine at the Imperial Spa. The conference attracted more than two hundred experts from research institutions, universities and spa facilities from the Czech Republic and abroad.

We focused the conference programme on modern technologies that can make diagnostics more efficient, support the personalization of spa care, and strengthen its research base. Research results were presented in the fields of physical therapy, balneological analyses, and the use of virtual reality in rehabilitation.

The conference was held under the auspices of Ing. Petr Kulhánek, Minister for Regional Development, Mgr. Jana Mračková Vildumetzová, Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region, and Ing. Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová, MBA, Mayor of the City of Karlovy Vary. We would like to thank the Mayor for her inspiring opening address and the Minister for his kind and encouraging message delivered via video greeting.

Among the keynote speakers were, for example, Csilla Mezosi, Secretary General of the European Spas Association (ESPA), who highlighted the potential of European cooperation and the importance of evidence-based approaches. MUDr. Eduard Bláha, President of the Association of Czech Spas, addressed current challenges facing the Czech spa sector, and prof. Ing. Martin Fusek, CSc., of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS, v. v. i., and IOCB Tech s.r.o., presented opportunities for transferring knowledge from research into practice.

During the conference, we presented an Award for long-term and valuable cooperation in the field of education and research to Léčebné lázně Lázně Kynžvart.

We are pleased that the conference has become not only a professional forum but also a space for new contacts and inspiration across disciplines. Next year, we plan to open up further topics, expand international participation, and continue supporting dialogue between science and practice.
