The course Physiotherapy in Spa Medicine has taken place

We have completed the second successful year of teaching the course Physiotherapy in Spa Medicine, intended for bachelor's and follow-up master's students of the Physiotherapy programme at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, CTU. The teaching took place in two blocks – on February 20 and 27, directly in Karlovy Vary.

The first block was opened by MUDr. Ladislav Špišák, CSc., who introduced students to balneology and physical therapy, including case reports and case studies from special and clinical balneology. In the afternoon, Mgr. Marek Maráček spoke on the topic of movement and the use of wearables in the spa sector.

The second block offered a view of physiotherapy in real-world spa operation – Mgr. Magdaléna Vereskova, MSc., MBA, guided students from theory to practice. The topic of nutrition, prevention and health indicators in the context of spa medicine was then covered by prof. MUDr. Dana Müllerová, Ph.D. The final block was devoted to modern technologies: Mgr. Ondřej Vacek first presented their role in the spa sector theoretically, after which students underwent a practical demonstration in the demonstration laboratory – bioimpedance, a stabilometric platform for telerehabilitation, VR for rehabilitation and other technologies, led together with Mgr. Alexandra Zachová Tichá, MBA.

We see this course as an important step in connecting modern physiotherapy with the tradition of Czech spa medicine. We are pleased that students' interest confirms the value of this direction.
