The winter issue of the Lázeňství a balneologie journal has been published

We have published the fourth issue of the Lázeňství a balneologie professional journal for 2025. For the first time, the winter edition is also available in print, offering a rich mix of scientific articles, practical perspectives and international reports.
The scientific section opens with an article on microflora in peloids – examining the role natural microorganisms play in therapeutic natural muds and their potential for therapeutic use. The second scientific text explores a fascinating intersection of history and modern medicine: how sugar, diabetes and the Karlovy Vary cure have been intertwined since the 19th century, and what role spa treatment plays in the care of diabetic patients today.
The Point of View section explores the role of education as a strategic tool for the development of the spa sector in the Karlovy Vary Region, offers insights into opportunities for physical activity and health care in winter spas, and features an authentic text by the winning student team from last year's ideathon focused on the future of the spa sector.
The final section, From the World of Spa Medicine, covers two international scientific conferences – a scientific meeting in Varna, Bulgaria, and the XB-CON conference in Františkovy Lázně, where representatives of our institute presented the results of current research activities.
The journal is intended for both professionals and the wider public interested in spa medicine and balneology. Current and archived issues are available free of charge on our Institute's website: www.i-lab.cz/casopis/
