A funding decision has been issued for the CLV project!

A funding decision has been issued for the strategic project entitled "Centre for Spa Research" from the Just Transition Operational Programme. This represents not only a fundamental milestone for the Institute of Spa and Balneology, but also for the overall development of science and research in the Karlovy Vary Region.

"We are delighted to have secured funding for the implementation of this absolutely key project, which will bring a whole range of benefits to our region and strengthen the position of the Karlovy Vary Region as a centre of excellence in the field of spa medicine and balneology in Europe. Its implementation will not only significantly enhance scientific capacities and infrastructure, but will also bring about a real improvement in the spa services provided," said Alina Huseynli, Director of the Institute of Spa and Balneology.

The total cost of the project, which focuses on the transformation of the spa sector and the establishment of an environment for carrying out scientific and research activities in the fields of medical, environmental and socioeconomic sciences, is estimated at CZK 249,768,480. The grant from the Just Transition Operational Programme amounts to CZK 237,280,055. The project will be implemented in cooperation with major partners, including the Czech Technical University in Prague (Faculty of Biomedical Engineering), the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Faculty of Health Care Studies, Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, Faculty of Economics) and the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

"Spa medicine and balneology are among the defining domains of the Karlovy Vary Region. Their practices are rooted in traditional values, yet they still lack new scientific findings that would help objectify the therapeutic effects of spa treatments. We are therefore pleased that we have succeeded in obtaining funding for the implementation of the Centre for Spa Research project, which will bring substantial benefits to this field and will also create new jobs," added Vojtěch Franta, Deputy Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region for spa affairs, tourism, UNESCO and information technology.
