Looking back at the first COFFEE & SCIENCE: Spa Therapeutic Landscape

On October 10, 2024, a popular science lecture on the topic "Spa Therapeutic Landscape" took place in the friendly atmosphere of the Café Pohovka in Karlovy Vary. The lecture was led by Ing. Jana Walterová, Ph.D., and was part of the CLV (Centre for Spa Research) project.

Key topic: Spa Therapeutic Landscape

Spa therapeutic landscape represents a key concept, linking natural healing resources with human activity. In her lecture, Jana Walterová outlined the main aspects of this phenomenon and explained why a specific definition of the therapeutic landscape is important particularly in the context of spa areas. Participants learned how natural resources and thoughtfully designed environments can contribute to better health and mental well-being.

Discussion and participants' interest

The lecture was followed by a lively discussion that lasted approximately an hour. The discussion revolved mainly around the perception of the spa therapeutic landscape, its history, and the difference between the general concept of a therapeutic landscape and the specific spa therapeutic landscape. Participants were interested in the next steps that the Institute of Spa and Balneology plans to take in this area within the CLV project.

During the discussion, interesting suggestions also emerged for further topics that could be covered in future lectures. The public had the opportunity to openly share their views and approaches to spa culture, which contributed to the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the whole event.
