Presentation of the therapeutic spa landscape at the EGU 2025 conference

We took part in the international scientific conference of the European Geosciences Union General Assembly (EGU 2025) in Vienna. Our colleague Ing. Jana Walterová, Ph.D., presented the ongoing research within the environmental part of the project Centre for Spa Research.

The contribution entitled Air quality issues in therapeutically exposed locations introduced the concept of the therapeutic spa landscape – that is, an environment whose complex effects (natural, social and cultural elements) support health and well-being. Air quality plays a key role in this respect.

The presentation was part of a scientific session devoted to the environmental aspects of health. It also included measurement results from locations such as Lázně Kynžvart and Karlovy Vary, where the ISB team monitors, for example, concentrations of negative air ions, volatile organic compounds and biogenic elements, as well as noise and light levels.

Participation in EGU 2025 allowed us to present our research to an expert audience, gain valuable feedback and establish new contacts for further cooperation in the field of environmental and spa research.
