We have launched our own air quality monitoring: a new mobile air pollution monitoring station has been put into operation

As part of the Centre for Spa Research project, we have acquired an automatic mobile air pollution monitoring station, which will allow us to precisely measure air quality directly in spa locations.

We will use the data from the station to develop the concept of the Spa Therapeutic Landscape (LTK) – a multi-factor landscape assessment of the surroundings of spa locations, on which we have been working for a long time. The aim is to establish criteria that, when met, allow the surroundings of a spa location to be designated an LTK, where staying in nature has a demonstrable health benefit. The concept also targets locations that do not have the status of climatic spas.

Until now, air pollution measurements in spa locations have only been carried out sporadically, or data have been derived from more distant stations. The new station will allow us to monitor concentrations of dust, tropospheric ozone, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and carbon monoxide directly in the field. Once the project tasks have been completed, we plan to offer the possibility of measurement to spa organizations and local authorities as well.

We have already launched pilot measurements in Mariánské Lázně.
