A Day with Water at Techmania Science Center: Lecture on Mineral Springs

On March 21, 2025, our colleague Ing. Pavel Kalina took part in the Day with Water event held at the Techmania Science Center in Plzeň on the occasion of World Water Day.

As part of a program focused on the importance and protection of water, he gave a lecture entitled "Unique Mineral Springs in Western Bohemia", which addressed:

• the formation of mineral springs and the geological processes that lead to it,
• how springs function and their chemical composition,
• the historical and present-day use of mineral springs,
• the Spa Research Centre project, which is dedicated to the research and protection of spa resources.

The program also included a tasting of several commercially available mineral springs, helping the students better understand the differences between individual sources.

The lecture received a positive response from both students and teachers, thanks not only to its engaging format but also to the practical demonstrations and audience involvement. The discussion following the lecture confirmed interest not only in spa medicine but also in ecology and the protection of natural resources.
